Look what we got from our Connecting Schools Grant!

Well it has been one BUSY 11 week term! The Green Team have spent the term planning, organising and presenting our plan for Green Day to happen at BSC in Term 4, and have also been busy brainstorming projects for next term.

This term, we ran the annual Walk Safely to School Day raffle competition and healthy breakfast and upon team reflection of this event, we discussed how making our own breakfast/snacks/food incentives in the future to encourage students to actively travel to school would be a good idea. In turn, we suggested in our team meeting that it would be awesome to have our own smoothie bike at the school, so we could use it for all of our Green Team Your Move events to help incentivise our students to be active. We took this idea to Your Move at DoT and asked them if this could be a possibility for use of our grant funding for last year. As we unlocked the double platinum grant for 2020, we were able to put forward a Place Making Initiative Application to the DoT for use of this funding to purchase a smoothie bike.

The Green Team were SO excited to learn that DoT approved our application and just in time for the end of Term 2, the smoothie bike came in the post this week!! We cannot wait to plan to use this in our projects and Your Move activities next term. In addition to this, part of our grant funding will also go towards a Mountain Biking excursion next term with Rock and Roll Mountain Biking in the Perth Hills. This will be a rewards excursion for the Green Team's super hard work throughout the year and all of the students who participate in the Green Team events at the beginning of next term.
