Bannister Creek’s Active Travel Festival was held on a glorious Spring day. Students from Kindy to Year 6 participated in a number of activities across the day. Early Childhood students watched a Constable Care show that taught them how to get to school safely. Year three to six students loved learning how to skateboard and ride their bike safely. Everyone enjoyed going on a Transperth bus and learning about Perth’s train system.

Students also worked with the RAC to design signs and develop easy to follow rules to keep pedestrians safe. Year 5 students Chelsea, Mihi and Jade enjoyed the skateboarding because it was fun and they learnt new skills. Staff also enjoyed the day and could see many benefits for children learning about how to use a bus and thinking more about how they will get to school safely in the future.

What a bonanza for everyone at Bannister Creek PS 😊! It is great to know that the staff also had fun and appreciated all the benefits. You have earned a big 90 points for facilitating the Active Travel Festival and another 10 points for sharing all the details of what it entailed.
