The rain won't stop us!

Tammy McEwan

Last Friday saw the re-launch of FUME FREE FRIDAYS at Bassendean Primary School and the rain decided it would also come and join in the fun. We had kids and families soaking wet, some in raincoats, boots, umbrellas but because of the timing of the rain, many were already actively travelling to school when the rains started...and they were soaked.

The good news though is that even with the rain we were able to record an increase in active travellers compared with Week 10 Term 2. Walking rates increased by 10% and driving was down BY 8%...hooray. We have our fingers and toes crossed for dry weather this Friday for Week 2 of FUME FREE FRIDAYS.

Our Your Move and Faction Leaders handed out raffle tickets to those who braved the rain and there was so much excitement. Our first Your Move active traveller prize pack winners will be drawn at our Week 3 assembly, can't wait to see who wins.

Your launch of the FFF regular AT day sounds like a big success Tammy 😊. Getting more kids to school using AT in the rainy weather than you had in finer times must be very rewarding! You have earned 90 points for your FFF this term, 22 points for including YM in your newsletter, 10 points for all you story details and 15 for your analysis of the results. Have a wonderful week at Basso!
