Hands Up Survey Reflection 2022

This year at Bob Hawke College, we found it challenging to get valid data to begin with. Already we had an increase in participants from Term 1 due to the format of the HUS. Unfortunately, the number of students in a car increased but we think that is due to more participants. In Term 1 2023 we will also have an increase in cars due to the increase in student body to over 1200. Unfortunately, even due to our efforts of Bike on T Day, there is a decrease of cycling at BHC. We do not have an explanation for the decrease as there were more participants overall. The Your Move Champions will have to brainstorm next year how to get more students doing active transport to school.

Great that you are taking time to reflect and evaluate Anne. Sometimes it can be sobering, but our baby steps do lead us places 😊 Doing a bike rack count can also be a quick and easy way to measure that aspect of travel behaviour throughout the year. Two snapshots across the year can tell us a lot but also have their limitations. Sometimes an anomaly can skew results one way or the other. Wishing you all the best moving forward 👊🏽

Sorry Emma I think I deleted your comment by accident! Great thoughts and I will pass these on to the Your Move Committee when we meet in Term 1!
