The City of Bayswater in August 2021 adopted its Emission Reduction and Renewable Energy Plan. A very exciting step ahead in becoming a sustainable organisation. Luckily, it is becoming more and more common for organisation to consider the full impact of their organisation on emissions, beyond energy to run their operations and into their value chains. Many organisations aspire to be 'carbon neutral' by a certain set date and to achieve this they must consider what is called their 'value chain scope 3 emissions.' These emissions types include business travel and employee commuting.

The City of Bayswater has set itself a 2040 'Net Zero' greenhouse gases target for its energy related and value chain emissions. This means that things have gotten serious and we need to rapidly start bringing our emissions down.

Encouraging staff to travel to work by bicycle or by walking is something that is not only beneficial from an emission point of view but comes with considerable health and (mental) wellbeing benefits. It may seem like a small step (pun intended) for mankind but it will help the City and its staff on several levels

That is excellent news Jennie - well done to everyone who contributed to this being adopted 😊. Are you able to share the actual plan yet? Or if not, can you share what actions relating to active travel have been included?
