A wheely great time!

This October was Western Australia’s Bike Month. The City of Swan hosted three initiatives as part of this annual celebration of cycling.

Bike Month Challenge 2020

Five staff members participated in the Bike Month Challenge this October, inciting some friendly competition to find out who could make the most trips to/from work. A valiant effort was made by all; however it was Marianne who emerged as the winner, completing 15 rides to work in four weeks and earning herself a $50 voucher from The Bicycle Centre in Midland. All participants received prizes thanks to Your Move.

Social Ride

On October 7, the Sustainable Environment team hosted a social ride. The staff who participated enjoyed a leisurely ride from the Administration building to Bassendean followed by a cheeky coffee at Into the Woods café – all before work! The event was deemed a success by all and will hopefully become a regular fixture during Bike Month.

E-bike

Our e-bike went walkabout for Bike Month, so staff at Swan Active Midland had the opportunity to give it a spin. Cassie said she loved having the opportunity to try it and said it was an easy and fun way to get moving when you’re at work.

James (Your Move)

Hi Aimee - thanks for your big Bike Month update. Great to hear that Swan had a team in the Bike Month Challenge and that our YM rewards were put to good use - getting involved in the Challenge has earned you 40 points (plus a bonus 5 for sharing how many staff joined in). You also earned 25 points for promoting your ebikes to the staff at Swan Active Midland, as well as 12 points for posting your first story at City of Swan. Finally, you also got a bonus 10 points for giving us plenty of details. Dont't forget to let us know any plans that you have for 2021 - as each quarter you can receive points for having a planning session. OK, bye for now!
