The City has successfully received grant funding from the Department of Transport to collaborate with WestCycle in hosting a Bike Month event, which runs annually throughout October.

Last year we were successful in our Ride to Work Breakfast for Bike Month, so this year we wanted to host a bigger event for the community.

The City is the only metropolitan Local Government that was awarded the maximum grant amount as a ‘major’ event for Bike Month in 2023.The City will be hosting a Bike Month event at our new state of the art criterium track, Splendid Park Cycle track in Yanchep to encourage the community to bike ride within the City of Wanneroo in conjunction with the messages of Bike Month 2023 and the Active Transport Plan 2022/23 – 2025/26

This event is aimed at families, older youth and younger children with activities planned for all ages, abilities, and types of bike riding to encourage greater active transport .The event is also partnered with the Northern Beaches Cycling Club and City’s Youth Services school holiday program activities.

The primary aim of Bike Month is to promote and encourage riding for transport, fun and/or for a healthier lifestyle. This aligns with the goals of the Active Transport Plan which is to promote cycling as an attractive alternative mode of transport in the daily life of Wanneroo citizens of all ages and abilities.

See you there!
