The City was successful in receiving major grant thanks to the Department of Transport WA to host a Bike Month event.
The City held a Bike Month Event at Splendid Park Cycle Track in Yanchep on Friday the 6th of October from 3-6pm.

Our Youth team and Freestyle Now were entertaining young people on the skate park with a BMX Jam. Vault Cycle Services performed bicycle maintenance for attendees. Glass Slipper Entertainment dazzled the little ones with face painting and their bicycle themed games as well as the importance of wearing a helmet. People on Bicycles encouraged children from aged 3-5 to ride without training wheels and taught them how to ride a balance bike. Cycling Without Age provided an abundance of trishaw rides for everyone. Attendees were enthused by trailing a road bike with Northern Beaches Cycling Club and also had the chance to beat their own speed and rode with a virtual team on a Zwift Bike which was projected onto the big screen.... not to mention we had an ambulance, ice cream truck, food trucks and a coffee van.

Information about the City’s Long Term Cycle network was displayed in our Event Hub as well as the City’s Active Transport Plan (2022/23 – 2025/26), school parking brochures and ‘Map Your Move’ brochures to encourage the benefits of using active transport in the City as well as BikeLinc information. WestCycle were also in attendance handing out leaflets and mixing with attendees.
Even though the turn out wasn't as big as we had anticipated, those who attended and braved the heat had a fantastic time.

Wow Sophie - you have really put on an extensive Bike Month event at Wanneroo! Pity about the scorcher of a day. You earned 40 points for your day plus a 30 point 'outstanding' bonus for the multitude of elements to the day. You also earned 20 points for sharing these outcomes of your DoT grant.

Thanks James, it was such a great day. It was hot especially for our staff who were marshalling, however, they had fun at the end trying the road bikes and enjoyed a ride in a tri shaw :)
