Koondoola Avenue and Butterworth Avenue (Koondoola- Wanneroo bike plan) upgrade is now complete! Get your wheels ready🚲!
This project was delivered as part of the State Government’s Cycling Election Commitment package and forms part of the City’s Active Transport Plan (2022/23 to 2025/26). The upgrade consists of the 1.5m wide concrete paths on the west sides of Koondoola Avenue and Butterworth Avenue to provide a 1.8km long, 3.0 to 3.5m wide red-asphalt shared path between Marangaroo Drive and Beach Road.
On Thursday the 31st of August 2023, it was the official opening of the Koondoola-Wanneroo bike plan, whereby students from Waddington Primary school walked along the shared path from Waddington Primary School along Koondoola Avenue to Butterworth Avenue with school staff, Mayor Linda Aitken and Councillors as well as the State Member for Mirrabooka, Meredith Hammat MLA.
The opening of the pathway was signified by a ribbon cutting just before the Butterworth Park. The activation event concluded at Butterworth Park, where students were able to play on the play equipment.

The Koondoola- Wanneroo Bike Plan is intended to encourage active transport in the community by providing a high-quality connection that links residents to local attractions, businesses, and facilities in the area.
We look forward to seeing students walking cycling and scooting to school on their new path.

Hi again Sophie. That is some great infrastucture that you have just launched! Your launch event has earned you 20 points, plus 20 for your informative story details. BTW - was writing a story a condition of grant acquital?

Hi James, it was a great day and the sun was shining for the students. Writing a story was not part of the acquittal, perhaps I selected the wrong activity for the post. Thanks kindly Sophie
