National Walk Safely to School Day

Schools across the City participated in National Walk Safely to School Day, congratulations to everyone on all your efforts.

In addition, ten City of Wanneroo 'Your Move' schools that applied for the City's 'Kick Start Your Walk to School ' funding to host a healthy breakfast on the day were busy welcoming students at the gate with fruit, muffins and a warm breakfast. Councillors who were available on the day attended these schools and mingled with students, staff and parents whilst they enjoyed their healthy breakfast.

I was lucky enough to attend two schools: Alkimos Primary School and East Butler Primary School before heading to the City's car restraint workshops for National Road Safety Week.

I was greeted at Alkimos Primary School by Pirates and invited to attend their Breakfast Club. Students were excited as Champion Ceri handed out their 'Walk to School Stickers' and hot breakfast. Principal Andrew Gorton was talking with the students as they ate their breakfast. It was lovely to see the staff get all dressed up as pirates to join in the fun.

At East Butler Primary School, I was met by Champion Amy, Councillor Parker and the East Butler Ps Admin team. The front of the school was bustling with students who walked to school and everyone was enjoying their muffins and fruit. Big shout out to Amy who specifically came in on her day off to celebrate the day.

Our ten funding recipients are now busy with their acquittal process, I look forward to reading about their events and seeing the photos. Well done to all our schools across the City, you are making a big difference.

James (Your Move)

Great to see Wanneroo once again supporting their schools in Your Move 😁. I have re-linked your story to the "Run a Breakfast Event" activity which is worth more points (40) as the impact of your grant is greater than just your promotion of the event day. You have also earned 20 points for your story details. We will also be prompting any lagging schools to post a story on this in the next few weeks 😊.
