Promoting Active Travel and Road Safety at Wanneroo Pop up Town Square

The traffic team got talking to the Wanneroo community today about Active Travel and Road Safety at our Wanneroo Pop Up Town Square.

Active Travel was promoted through handing out 'Map Your Move' brochures, discussing our LTCN and Active Transport Plan as well as promoting our recently opened shared paths and Splendid Park criterium cycling track. There were a few keen cyclists interested in trying out Splendid Park.

Road Safety was also promoting by handing out RoadRibbons for RoadSafety as well as bin stickers encouraging residents to "Slow down and consider our kids". The RoadRibbon for RoadSafety campaign is a community-based road safety initiative which enables people to directly contribute to road safety over the Christmas / New Year holiday period.

It was enjoyable to chat to the community out in the sunshine and listen to the buskers playing in the background.

Super work Sophie! Prompted by your story I googled the new criterium track - what an absolute beauty of a facility 😁 - now you have one more cyclist who wants to try this out (even though my criterium racing days are in the distant past 😭). I note the NBCC club says they want to also do “kids learn-to-ride sessions, inter-school competition” - could be a good link with YM Schools! You have earned 25 points for this promotion plus 10 points all the details 😊.
