The City of Wanneroo was represented by staff who specialise areas of Active Travel, Waste Education and Sustainability at Mindarie SC Expo.
The purpose of the expo was to increase students' knowledge and understanding of sustainability, showcase what the City is doing in terms of sustainability, make students aware of how they can get involved and increase student links within school and their community.
Active travel (bike riding, walking and scooting) was promoted as the preferred and sustainable alternative to using a car through 'Map Your Move' leaflets, promoting our LTCN, public transport and a question and answer game.
Students were provided with both multiple choice questions and open ended questions. The goal of this game was to challenge students thinking. Depending on the amount of correct answers, students either could win a sticker or a 'Your Move' pen, all sourced from the 'Your Move' rewards shop, thanks 'Your Move'. All of the questions were regarding active travel, for example: how Australia is fairing compared to the rest of the world, how much carbon emissions a car produces and where can the student go to find out more about active travel.
The waste and sustainability teams had fantastic hands on games too and provided some amazing prizes. We hope we have inspired young people today to think sustainable for the future, even small commutes via active travel can make a big difference.

Great to see the CoW teams out at Mindarie participating in their expo. With the quiz and games it sounds like you have put together a very ludic promotion 🎉. You have earned 25 points for this promo plus 20 for sharing the details.
