Western Australia's first full criterium cycling facility is officially open and it is right here in Yanchep!! The City held an opening event on Saturday the 3rd of December, where VIPS, the Member for Pearce Tracey Roberts, the Member for Butler/Attorney General John Quigley, Northern Beaches Cycling Club and Councillors were in attendance.

The track was officially opened in a cutting of the ribbon and unveiling of the plaques.

Splendid Park Criterium track is the state’s first full-sized off-road criterium circuit at 1.4km long and 6m to 8m wide which winds its way around the park’s existing ovals and hard courts. Bicycle riders of all abilities will be able to use the track.

The project was funded by the State and Federal Government and the City of Wanneroo.

James (Your Move)

Hi Sophie - I hope you have been having a nice break over the holiday period. It is excellent to see the support from all levels of politics that this new facility has garnered. It is also nice to see the Your Move logo making an appearance on the cycling jersey! Unfortunately as this event doesn't directly relate to active travel, you can't earn activity points for this story, but I have given you 10 points for writing an interesting and engaging story. See you in 2023 😁!
