Walk To Work Day (1)

Sophie Baker
City of Wanneroo

Friday the 1st of September was Work To Work Day. City staff were encouraged to put their walking shoes on and walk, cycle or catch public transport to work to raise awareness of Diabetes and the importance of incorporating regular walking in their daily routine. For those who couldn't walk all the way, they were encouraged to park further and walk some of the way. Staff were also encouraged to swap their sit-down meetings for walking meetings today.

Staff were encouraged to walk or ride to work on Walk To Work Day to go in the draw to win a $50 gift voucher for 99 Bikes 🚲 !! This voucher was purchased with our 'Your Move' points from the rewards store, thanks 'Your Move'.

Staff could go in the draw to win the gift voucher by:

*Sending Traffic an email with the subject header “Walk to Work Prize Draw” and attaching a selfie of their feet walking or their wheels on the bike path🛴. Staff had to make sure that the email contained their name and the location that they walked from, even if they parked at the shops or took the bus some of the way, they qualified.

*Entrants had to agree to their selfie being used in a collage of our participation in the day on our 'Your Move' blog.

* The Winner was selected using a random generator, announced on the intranet and emailed their gift voucher. Well done to John from the Safety team who won the voucher.

Here are a selection of some of the photos that were sent in by staff.

A step in the right direction, to encourage more active modes of transport to work.

The City also posted on their socials encouraging the community to swap their car for their feet on the day.
