World Car Free Day

City of Wanneroo staff were encouraged to leave their cars on their driveways on the 22nd September 2023 and try out an alternative mode of travel for the day.

Staff were encouraged to walk, scoot, bike ride, use the City's e-bike and try out public transport and enjoy the fresh air reducing pollution and traffic congestion.

Staff were supported to give alternative modes a try through our staff intranet page and internal communication channels. Here is our intranet post which includes the closest bus stops, our Workplace Access Guide, how to hire the City's e-bike, links to journey planner for a more personalised journey and the link to our staff travel intranet page.

The friendly traffic team was on hand to assist any staff who were unsure the best route to take. The team hopes that today has raised awareness of how staff can get to work and the benefits and enjoyment of active travel and fresh air.

I love that "happy earth bike wheel" graphic! You have put together a great promo for World Car Free day, earning yourself 25 points plus 10 for all the details. Did you get a feel for how many staff took up the suggestion?
