Coolbinia PS's End-of-Year Your Move survey results indicated that 30% of our students came to school in an active way, while 70% came by car. This is a similar result to the survey findings in March 2020.

Reflecting on these findings, two issues seem to be relevant in our context: 1. the impact of Covid-19 resulting in consistent use of our Kiss & Drop facility; and 2. the need to more deeply embed Your Move into curriculum studies.

With regards to point 1, the Your Move Team has worked hard throughout the year promoting Your Move in a variety of ways, however, the requirement for people to keep apart due to the Coronavirus has reinforced the safety of the Kiss & Drop system. Regarding point 2, it is noted that there is a new STEM Learning Project for Year 6, related to 'Active Travel'. The STEM Committee is promoting the uptake of this learning project in 2021.

I must say 30% does seem quite surprisingly small given the small catchment of the school and all the positive activities you do. But I think you are right in that this year has been a bit odd in general. Great to hear that you have identified a new Active Travel STEM project. You automatically got 50 points when you uploaded your HUS results and I have given you another 10 for your considered reflections here.

Thanks James. Next year we will seek advice from you about enhancing our promotion strategies, just in case there are other issues impacting on our stats apart from Covid-19.
