New Team Scooting Along!

Year 4 students are our Your Move leaders. As we have two classes of Year 4s at Coolbinia Primary, one class fulfills the role in semester 1 and the other in Semester 2. Thus we have a new class team this term.

The new class team has been busy learning about the importance of the Your Move program. They have conducted interviews with their parents and grandparents about how they came to school, and compared the findings. It was interesting how walking was the predominant way of coming to school for grandparents, not so much for parents. Parents interviewed tended to ride bikes or come in cars to school.

Students also enjoyed the carbon dioxide/greenhouse effect experiment with vinegar and bicarb soda. The carbon dioxide was captured in a balloon. Discussion followed about greenhouse house gas emissions from cars and climate change.

Another activity the new Your Move team engaged with included making 'footprint' promotions for a special Fume Free Friday event happening next week. Overall, a great start to the semester for the new Your Move organisers.

That certainly is a great start, Elaine! I wonder if because grandparents used to walk to school themselves, if they often walk their grandkids to school now?
