In Term 1 we held 2 workshop sessions with Pearce, the Bike Dr. The focus of the sessions was 'Bike Maintenance & Repair'. Pearce guided all Year 5 students (over 50 children) in the care of their chains and how to repair punctures. All students were excited by this this hands-on workshop, which was undertaken as part of our Design Technologies program.

Great to hear that your Year 5 students have such an interest in quality bike maintenance. I wonder if there will be a response in terms of more kids riding into school on their freshly maintained bikes in term two!

Yes Justine, our new Term 2 Your Move student team will be monitoring bike riding and will be particularly keen to see if the Year 5s ride more than in first term. It will be ineresting to find out if the workshops made a difference to riding to school or home riding activities.

If you would like to use your reward points towards future funding of these sessions with mighty Pearce from Dismantle's Bike Doctor - let us know - we'd be keen to support these sessions at your school!

Thanks Katy. I'll keep it in mind. I'm very keen to invite Pearce back to our school as he addressed safe bike riding and wastewise actions in his sessions for us. This was great from a systems thinking perspective.
