Free Bike Lock Swap at Curtin

Shannon Leigh
Curtin University

As an initiative to encourage students to ride to Curtin's Bentley campus, a small program to swap locks was implemented. If a student brought in a lock it could be swapped out for a U-lock. Theft is not a huge problem on campus but it does happen and most students use a very basic, easy to cut, lock. Forty locks were on offer with the offer being taken up quite quickly.

Hi Shannon, what a great initiative. And thanks for writing your first story. Is bike theft on campus a barrier to people riding? For extra points we would love to know how you promoted it and if there has been much take up.

This is such a great initiative for students Shannon, can staff at the campus access it as well?
