Hands Up Survey Reflection

Amy Utley
East Butler Primary School

Today we completed our hands up survey with the entire school.

The results were surprising and interesting to see. Unfortunetly we have seen a decline in the about of active travel to school, however it is in areas we expected.

Many of the students that were walking or riding to school were in our older years, this is great to see! This meant that the activities that we did last year had a lasting impression and students were still adopting positive ways to travel to school.

The biggest amount of students driving were in our Kindy and PrePrimary area. This is to be expected with our new families coming to the school. This is an area that we will target and focus on. I have some pamphlets going home to the students in these grades to encourage active travel as well as information in our newsletter advising of East Butler's involvement in the 'Your Move' Program. We can't wait to see the data changing as the year progresses.

From Johanna:- Hi Amy, thanks for taking the time to reflect on your HUS results (10 points). Thanks for sharing your learnings (5 points). Great idea to promote YM to your kindy families, you can earn points if you post a story on how you went about this. Keep us posted on how things go in 2024 and beyond. All the best.
