The City of Armadale worked with Harrisdale Primary School throughout 2020 to install a universal cross walk in the school’s main carpark. This cross walk works hand in hand with the school’s second Kiss n’ Drive area for drop offs and pick-ups. The school already has one Kiss n’ Drive located in a smaller school carpark. This has been successful but often becomes congested with traffic during peak times. The new Kiss n’ Drive is located a little further away from the school, on a road with a designated area for parents to pull up and drop off their children. The students then walk across the universal cross walk and into the school grounds. This new Kiss n’ Drive allows parents to drop of their children and continue on their journey without long wait times. This has been a success and it has been wonderful to see students utilise the universal cross walk and walk that extra distance down to the school.

This sounds like a great way to combat congestion and promote safety as well. Awesome!

Great to hear that you have been working with the City of Armadale Abbi to improve access for pedestrians - and this has earned you 30 points. It is a bonus that it means that kids are getting a bit more walking in too! If you have a photo I can insert it for you - it would be great to see how it all works.
