Wheels Days

Danielle Howton
Honeywood Primary School

Honeywood Primary School has two wheels days per week, where students from years 1- 6 are encouraged to bring their bikes, scooters or roller skates to school.

The students are able to ride during both breaks around a set circuit in the same direction.

For students to participate they must have signed parent permission and wear a helmet.

Due to the popularity of this initiative the days have increased from - wheels on Wednesday to - wheels days which are Monday and Wednesday.

Many students participate. We have students riding their bikes, riding scooters or roller skating. Some students are still on trainer wheels.

To promote "Wheels Days" an article was placed in the whole school newsletter that goes home to all families.

Wow Danielle, it's great to see that you've enabled students to ride and walk to school and then continue the fun at break times too! 🚴‍♀️ You have earned 90 points for organising a regular active travel day, 30 points for having a slow bike race obstacle course, and I added 10 points for your story detail, well done!😃 Getting closer to those new bike racks!
