IKEA Step Challenge Competition

Next week we are kick-starting our first-ever National Step Challenge Competition! We have already recruited 43 teams of 4 co-workers to participate in the challenge, with more people registering today before the closing deadline. Over two weeks, teams will be challenged to up their steps and log in their daily count. We will have a LIVE scoreboard to show how each team is progressing. This is an Australia wide competition, which means we won't only be competing as teams but also as the Perth store.

How does the step challenge work?

Step 1 - Create a team of 4 co-workers and register your team name. We have had some great entries, including Beauty and the Beasts and the Who's walking now.

Step 2 - Choose a team captain. The captain will be in charge to gather the team's steps and log them daily.

Step 3 - Get walking - The captain will need to input the daily steps for his/her team. Teams might be asked to randomly provide proof of their steps, like a screenshot of their Fitbit app.

All steps done during the day will count towards the tally. To encourage co-workers to use this challenge to commute sustainably, we have added a walk to work prize! Co-workers who walk to work during the competition will go in the draw to win a $100 gift card. Co-workers can get an entry form from security central. The more times they walk to work, the more entries they get in the draw. Taking public transport and walking to work will also count as an entry. Co-workers will need to show proof of their walk, either a photo of them walking or the route on their phone app.

We hope to encourage all our co-workers to take on the challenge of walking and develop it into a healthy daily habit!

Great initiative Flavia. A good step on from IKEA's involvement in the Your Move Cup in March, especially the incentive to walk to work. Please let us know how it goes at the Perth store.

43 teams - are they all from the Perth store?! If so - WOW!! I'm really happy that you added in the additional incentive to walk for transport, as that means that this is a ridgy-didge Active Travel challenge and I can award you 50 points 😀. Giving us a very clear run down of how it all works has also earned you a bonus of 20 points. We'll be watching this space!
