LG Your Move - Roller Disco

Scott Tapper

This Wednesday our student Your Move team organised our inaugural Your Move Roller Disco which we also coincided with Footy Colours Day!

Students from PP to Year 10 participated in the event which promoted the use of scooters, skates and skateboards in daily commutes to school.

Students were rewarded with a roller disco during recess and lunch which allowed them to showcase all the fun they can have using the different modes of active transport.

We also used the opportunity to check helmets and their equipment to ensure its safe use.

The event brought together 100% of the school community with those not actively scooting, skating or riding - dancing to the many songs playing in the background.

80% of students brought their scooter, skates or skateboard to school whilst another 5% brought their bike.

Given the events success, we look forward to holding more regular roller discos throughout the year!

What a fantastic reward for students - there are certainly hundreds of wheels going around the quad in those shots! I love the idea of having the dance option too for those that didn't take their wheels to school - so beautiful to see the whole school participate. You have earned 40 points for your roller disco, plus 10 for brightening my day with the 'good read' nature of this story and another 5 for sharing those participation details. Catch you soon Scott!

They certainly loved it James. The pictures really don't do it justice. This is now a regular event for our school and will be completed every term ). :)
