This week we have been promoting active transport at our school with students asked to design a poster which promotes, walking or riding a bike or scooter to school each day instead of driving.

This was our first school competition – one of many to come as we fully embed active transport into our events calendar.

The competition included all our Kindy – Year students and was a great way to restart the active transport conversation with our students after the school holidays and our last school ‘your move events’. Here are some of our award winners with these designs below.

Here is a sampling of some of the entries.

Our Your Move team now include an update on active transport as part of our Lake Grace 360 student led events each week. These mini assemblies share upcoming events and discuss the importance of active transport.

Some very creative artists, Scott. What a great start to the term, LGDHS.

Lake Grace is clearly overflowing with creative talent Luke. Your poster comp has earned you 15 points, plus a bonus 20 points for getting the whole school involved. Do you have any plans for the winning entries? I could see you getting some made up into large format posters to rotate throughout the school - that could also be a way to earn some more points for the "Promote Active Travel" activity!

Your Lake Grace 360 updates sound good too - if you post a story on your next one I can give you points for the "Include YM as an assembly item" activity for this term.
