In preparation for the upcoming school holidays and develop our whole school approach to promoting physical activity, community safety and better transport awareness, all kindergarten to year 12 students engaged in special workshops following the establishment of a new partnership with our local policing team.

Each class presentation was tailored to promote a different element of our Your Move plan - encompassing everything from developing greater road awareness, utilising bikes and scooters vs cars and greater physical activity as a whole.

This initiative follows from a spike in students not wearing helmets or choosing to arrive to school via car ....... all behaviours which have since changed upon joining the Your Move program!

Great to see your local police have been actively involved in your YM program at LGDHS. Their visit and your workshops have earned you 25 points. Were the police involved in all the workshops? Or was it mostly regarding road safety? If not all of them, who ran the other sessions? You also received an 'outstanding' bonus of 20 points for involving all year levels in the workshops.

Thanks again James. The police were involved in all workshops, with sessions for each class Kindergarten to Year 12. Each workshop was slightly different. Most sessions explored being safe around the roads - such as safely crossing, riding bikes and scooters to and from school etc.We are promoting more active travel so the police provided us with everything we needed to know when choosing active transport modes to and from school each day.
