Walk n Talk Wednesday!

Today we started our second active travel day - Walk n Talk Wednesdays!! We are building community spirit by walking and having a chat along the way.

To kick things off, Miss Webster parked and walked from the shops. She was met by several students - including those who had come all the way from the other side of the suburb just to walk together as a class. 😊

On the walk, we saw ducks swimming and received some very friendly waves from people in the neighbourhood.

It was very nice to have more and more students and parents joining us as we walked safely through the neighbourhood. More people were also walking and riding from the other side of town.

The Transport Troopers have not yet offered “prizes” for this active travel day - the EXPERIENCE is the reward and everyone who joined in today has already started raving about it! Hopefully we have even more people joining us next time from a different meeting point.

In 2021 we are hoping to start an official Walking School Bus, so this is just the first step...

Watch this space!!

What a beautiful photo! It really captures the aim of your event - to facilitate positive social interactions through walking to school. Great to hear that the kids are loving it without any material rewards. I have linked your WnTW to the activity "Run a special event - Term 4" which gives you 40 points, plus a bonus 10 for giving us all a good read and bringing smiles to our faces! If the event becomes regular (eg weekly or monthly) let us know, as the points go up to 90 for a regular active travel event.
