Walk Safely to School Day 2022

Today we celebrated Walk2School Day 2022 at Lake Gwelup with our annual community walk from our local shopping centre! This time, it was organised by our new co-leader and champion Mr Drayton who managed to convince more teachers to come along for the ride than ever!

Our Year 6 Transport Troopers put in a lot of effort this week, making announcements on the PA, delivering posters and promoting the initiative to the school community. We made regular updates to our families on the school Connect page, Facebook group - and used our weekly staff notes to encourage teachers to take part. The Your Move team was thrilled with the commitment from our community, especially during a rainy week where COVID has hit our school worse than ever.

Families enjoyed the fresh air and said that it was a beautiful morning to walk to school (aren't they all?)

This annual walk from the shops has certainly become one of the highlights of our Your Move calendar (along with other fan favourites: the Slow Bike Race and Christmassy Dress Up Your Bike Day).

We look forward to next year!!

What a great event you have all put together! And well done to Mr Drayton in his new role as co-leader and champion 😊. Just look at all those Lake Gwelup walkers on the street 😮. You have earned 40 points for your big event and 25 points for including the Park and Walk element. You also received 20 points for putting together such an engaging story!
