Walking School Bus Progress at LGPS!

Last year Lake Gwelup PS made a pledge to start up a Walking School Bus in 2021!

We are very excited that the P&C have now jumped on board to help us with this and have already put a call out on social media to find helpers.

Last year we also used our Platinum status to obtain a wayfinding package for our school. The City of Stirling and Department of Transport are working together to help us plot our safest routes to school, which will help us promote the Walking School Bus initiative.

Safety was listed as one of the main barriers to students walking and riding to school, so these safe routes will help massively with overcoming that.

Many parents have indicated that they already have already started ‘unofficial’ Walking School Buses since Your Move started at LGPS, with parents taking turns walking to school with many children from the same street. Some are also riding as a whole group with their children.

Now that we have officially put the call out for parents to run this, we hope to have our first Walking School Bus starting up in early term 2! Watch this space. :)
