After many weeks of stormy and rainy days the sun came out on a Sunday morning in late September, just in time for our family bike scavenger hunt through Lathlain.
Families could decorate their helmets to go in the draw to win a free bike donated by our school's local member, Hon Ben Wyatt MLA.
Many participants went all out in decorating their helmets. Like this unicorn below!
We saw some fun and creative helmet designs: a superhero, duck nest, flower arrangement, even a minion. Can you spot him?!
Some families even decorated their bikes!
We had set up a great information tent where families registered and where we also had special bike safety checks by our Principal.
The Town of Victoria Park donated signs, stickers and shirts.
After registering it was time for the Scavenger Hunt and families followed the clues through the suburb to put together the riddle of the day: CONGRATULATIONS!
Kensington Police were onboard keeping an eye on traffic and safety. They even did all the riddles!
After the bike ride a lot of people were soaking up the beautiful sun on the oval while enjoying their well-deserved sausage sizzle and ice-creams.
A big shout out to our Principal Ian Bersan for cooking our sausage sizzles perfectly!
We would also like to say big thank you to Hon Ben Wyatt MLA for donating the bike that was awarded to the winner of the bike decorating prize draw. He was also the first back through the finish line, with Dad running most of the course next to his son on the bike.
You could truly feel the wonderful school community spirit on the day and we look forward to holding this event again next year.
