National Walk Safely to School Day 2021

On the Friday 14th May, Mary's Mount Primary School got their walking shoes on and walked to school. Our student Your Move Team had been promoting the event all week over the PA during the morning notices announcements.

Posters were placed outside each classroom in the weeks leading up to the event. A good show of different age groups walked safely to school with their parents.

Being a little school in the Perth Hills it can be tricky for some to walk up the very steep hill leading to our school. Also being a Catholic school some of our families live too far away to walk from home. So we offered families who lived further away an opportunity to meet at the Kalamunda Library, to walk together. It was a 25 minute walk to school from there.

Some of the Mum's were then keen to walk back to their cars after dropping off their children and were thinking about enjoying a warm drink together once they reached Kalamunda.

Hi Belinda - well what lovely surroundings your families have to walk through! With all that publicity your team organised, plus the option of a "Park & Walk", it is no wonder a great day was had by all - especially followed by a well deserved ☕ coffee! You have earned 40 points for your event, 25 points for the Park & Walk, and another 10 for an engaging story.
