Due to a temporary decrease in public transport during the current pandemic, MAPD have noted more staff from our hospital sites have started cycling to work, or walking to their public transport connections.

We have seen quite an increase in the number of staff accessing the bike facilities across three of our sites - Royal Perth, King Edward Memorial and Fremantle Hospitals, and we are currently in the planning stages of extending our King Edward bike facility to double its capacity.

With our beautiful autumn weather we hope this will encourage staff to keep up cycling and walking as a form of commuting to the workplace into the future.

Welcome back to YM for 2020 Lynette! Thanks for sharing your observations of an increase in active travel during the corona virus situation. It is also great news to hear that you are planning to double bike parking at KEMH (make sure you let us know how this goes!). I have given you 10 bonus points for sharing these details.
