Report by Anna and Jacinta - members of the Your Move Committee (Anna, Jacinta, David, Luca, Dorek, Ngawang and Ethan)

Can you believe that 122 kids rode or scootered to school on Ride2School Day. Thanks to the Your Move committee all of them got a special rewarding sticker. Good job guys! The members of the committee spent nearly two hours helping with the event.

Ride2School day is a day where everyone tries their best to not drive to school. As a reward you get a sticker and also get to keep the Your Move committee very busy. The problem is over the past 40 years the number of children who are physically active everyday has significantly dropped. In the 1970's, eight out of ten students rode or walked to school but today that number has dropped to just two out of ten. The solution is for students to ride or walk to school and then they are also contributing to their minimum physical activity level of 60 minutes per day.

Some of our fabulous Year 6's have helped with this special day. Members of the Your Move committee were stationed around the school welcoming students who were participating and rewarding them with their sticker. Thank you to everyone who helped to make the day a success.

Great story Anna and Jacinta! Firstly you have really nailed some of the great reasons to use active travel - but don't forget that "fun" is also one of the best reasons! And it seems like 122 of your fellow students knew about how much fun it would be. Your R2SD event has earned Mosman Park 40 points, plus 5 for reporting it from a student perspective, 5 for letting us know your participation numbers and 10 for giving us a great read! You have also received 60 points for having a student team in 2021. BTW - welcome back!!!
