On the wet and overcast morning of Thursday 26 August, students and staff from Mount Lawley Primary School left their cars parked at home. Instead, the school community walked, rode, scooted, skateboarded and roller skated to school for Park it for the Planet Day. The day was also celebrated with a colouring-in competition.
Despite the wintery weather, the mood was bright and students received a YourMove sticker as a reward for their efforts. If everyone in Australia makes the effort to leave their cars at home for Park it for the Planet Day, we would stop about 120,000 tonnes of CO2 going into the atmosphere.
In the lead up to Thursday 26 August, Park it for the Planet Day was advertised on Mount Lawley Primary School’s Facebook Page and in the school newsletter.

Great to see some good old fashioned roller skates in there, Manjusha! And I think it is the first time I have seen your "silhouette kids" - it would be interesting to know the background to them (another story perhaps?). You have earned 40 points for your event, 25 for having a colouring in comp, 10 for using social media this term and another 10 for creating an engaging story! I look forward to seeing the results of the colouring comp after the 26th 😊.
