Mount Lawley Primary School were kindly invited to share our parent-led collaborative approach to school traffic at the Your Move Forum hosted by the Department of Transport on Tuesday 27th October. The slides outling our story are included here.

Cavelle Monck, School Principal, and parent volunteer Neil Brodie who is Chair of the P&C's Traffic Management Group discussed how the P&C Association recognized the need to address school traffic behaviours and encourage alternative transport as a key enabler to reducing the number of car journeys taken by our community. Traffic Management Group member Sharnie Stuart was also there to share her experience.

Neil and Cavelle walked through how the Traffic Management Group was originally formed and how community workshops and surveys were conducted to identify key themes to tackle with the community's support. One of these themes was to Promote Alternatives to Driving.

After "going it alone" initially, the Traffic Management Group discovered Your Move and have never looked back! Cavelle and Neil discussed the wealth of Your Move resources and support available to schools and that the structured nature of the program has been critical to adding credibility and expertise to inform the school's traffic group's initiatives.

As well as sharing our story, attending the Your Forum was extremely beneficial to learn more from experts who shared compelling data of the various benefits associated with using alternative transport for getting to and from school. We will definitely be using this information in future.

Please enjoy the slides provided here and feel free to reach out if we can help you with your Your Move journey.
