Linking maths and public transport

Miss Sayers and her Year 6 class have been using a creative way of linking active transport and maths this term. Students have been involved in two activities to familiarise themselves with the Albany bus route maps. Firstly they got to know the symbols and legends on the maps, and how to interpret the routes that each bus travels on. Secondly, students were given verbal instructions on how to get from one place to another in Albany and by using a certain time using the timetable. The group did an example together, and then struck out on their own. This is a great skill for students to learn to be able to plan their own journeys using the local bus network.

Hi Andrea - in wrapping up the year I see that we missed this story! It is an excellent practical lesson that Miss Sayers has created - she and the class have earned 25 points for doing this. You have also earned 10 points for clearly sharing with us how it worked! I hope your 2023 is going well so far 😃 - see you soon!
