After lengthy conversations with our students we learnt that they were not happy with the location of our bike racks. The rack were enclosed in a cage on the far end of the school. Even thought the bikes were locked up they were worried about the safety of their bikes and felt it was a bit far away from the high traffic areas of the school.

As a school we decided that the best area to relocate the bike racks was near the breakfast bowl where there is the highest foot traffic throughout the school. We bought some large lockable cables to secure the bikes to the racks and keep them safe during the day. The bonus about this is we have a Teacher on duty in this area in the mornings and they are able to see who is riding and scooting and give them high fives and lots of praise which is encouraging the students to ride more often. We are aiming to get these bike racks filled by the end of the year.

Cheers, James! We're yet to work out how to use the old space, but we've got a few ideas on the go...
