Active Travel Interclass Competition

Today marked our first Interclass Competition for Active Travel at Noranda Primary School. The Your Move team is encouraging each student to make their way to school this term on Fridays in an active way. This could be riding their bike, walking to school or parking further away and walking, skating or scooting.

With our rewards points we have earnt on the Your Move website, the team decided to purchase all the books relevant to sustainability and active travel as class rewards. Students who travel actively see one of our Your Move team members and collect a sticker, as well as have their class number recorded. Each week, the classroom with the highest percentage of active travellers, wins a book.

We had 121 students travel to school in an active way today, whether it was riding, scooting, skating or walking. This is one third of our school! What an amazing effort for our first active travel day and on a chilly morning too. We also had over 25 parents and family members come collect a sticker from our Your Move leaders.

We are so proud of our school and their efforts towards reducing traffic congestion and becoming more active. We cannot wait to see our results next week.

Hi Evelyn, and welcome back everyone for Term 2 😊. What a great way to kick off the new term with not just your Friday regular AT day, but also an inter-class competition! Great that you got 25 parents out and about too, on top of the 121 students. You have earned 90 points for firing up your Friday promos again, 60 points for the comp and 20 points for sharing all those details as well as the 33% participation rate. Have a super weekend everyone 😁.
