National Walk Safely to School Day (3)

Today Noranda Primary School celebrated National Walk Safely to School Day. Our Your Move Team had meetings to organise a great morning for our community. They displayed posters around the school, made announcements over the PA system each day and spoke at assemblies.

Two of our Your Move leaders, Halle and Annabel went around to our school paths and wrote messages in chalk. This was their idea to promote walking safely and being active. We are big on safety at our school, so to celebrate, we asked all students to wear their brightest socks. The bright socks were an idea to draw attention to yourself whilst walking and to keep you safe on busy streets.

Not only did our families and students wear bright socks, collect stickers and temporary tattoos, but they were also welcomed to school with a table of fruit, yoghurt and juice to start their day. We are extremely grateful to our parent volunteer for organising vouchers that were kindly donated by Woolworths and Coles. This parent volunteer bought all the delicious snacks for our community this morning and even did the cleaning up. We also had some mandarins donated from our Your Move leader, Annabel’s Pop’s tree.

A successful morning and one we hope our community enjoyed 😊

Nice work everyone! I love that idea of the student to take the crazy sock plan to another level by having several pairs on her shirt 🤣. The chalk messages look very effective too, and what a super fruit breakfast! You have all earned 40 points for your event, 10 points for your planning and promo efforts and another 10 for your engaging story details. Have a brilliant weekend everyone 😁.
