The students in Rooms 7&8 are taking part in Walk Around Australia, a Your Move initiative. The idea behind this activity is to virtually walk around the country while physically tackling the kilometres on the school grounds.

The students set a goal, learn to map the distance they cover, and virtually explore different parts of the country and the natural environment along the way. Our students are currently “walking“ the Bibbulmun Track.

Both classes are loving starting the day with a trek through the bush while learning about this unique and diverse WA track, right on our door step. Thank you Your Move!

I love those photos Robin - your school certainly has access to some beautiful bushland. Do the students have the option of boosting their kilometres by walking to school too? If so I can give you the 60 points for the Walk Around Australia activity - whilst we love anything that increases physical activity in students, we can only give points for activities directly related to active transport to/from school. If not, maybe you could add that element in - I really want to give you those 60 points!

Hi James. Approximately 1/3 of these students participate in our Walking School Bus that takes place twice a week and a large number of these students’ bike to school on the alternative days. Starting Week 6 the participating classes will be implementing a system to record the students that have chosen to get to school by active transport on any given day. We hope this will encourage more students to make the active choice. Thank you for your support You Move!
