On Friday the 14th of May 2021 at 2:15pm, we held our first formal assembly for the Your Move program! Attending this assembly was our staff and students from Kindy to Year 6 with some parents and families. The assembly was led by the two Year 6 Captains and the amazing Your Move student team!! We are delighted to be celebrating how far we have come since joining Your Move Program in 2020, and we enjoyed broadcasting to the school our amazing achievements so far this year.

We had a very special guest attend our assembly. We welcomed Mr Mark Irwin, the Mayor of the City of Stirling. He joined us for this celebration and announced that we are the overall winners of the Your Move Stirling School’s Competition held in March 2021! SPS did an amazing job with 56% of parents signing up to participate in Your Move Stirling! It’s a fantastic result and our community are well-deserved winners. Thank you to our families and Scarborough community!

The Department of transport and Your Move Representative, Dave Paddon attended and said a few words about Your Move and Scarborough Primary’s amazing success! He handed the trophy over to Mark who congratulated SPS by saying a few words to formally award it to our school Principal, Sarah Dawson. It is a privilege and honour to be part of this amazing Your Move Program and working with such an incredible team!

The Your Move team announced the results for the National Walk Safely to School Day. Well done we had 61% of active travellers (walk, ride, public transport, park and walk) with 39% of drivers! What a fantastic outcome!

Regular Active Travel Days has begun, and the Your Move student team announced our first week of Active Travel Days. Tuesday the 11th of May 48% drove to school in comparison to our combination of active travellers reaching 52%. Thursday the 13th of May showed 49% drove while active travellers at 51%. This is a great start for Term 2. Keep it up!

It was the first time Kindy students attended a live assembly. They have only been exposed to the on-air assemblies a few times. I am super proud of my little students; they showed such resilience and bravery! Well done! The assembly closed on a high and our school is super excited for what Your Move Program has planned next!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about your big assembly 'event' Sandy - great to see all the special guests who were involved (great to hear too that you put the very special Dave Paddon to good use too 😆!). You earned 25 points for your AT focussed assembly, plus a bonus 20 for such a detailed story. I also see that you have a student team in place - so that earned you another 60 points!
