The Shire officially opened Stage 2 of the Kununurra shared loop pathway last week. Stage two creates a dedicated shared path along Ironwood Drive linking the Weaber Plain shared path with schools, Aboriginal health services, Kelly's Knob lookout and Aboriginal communities of Mirima, Ranch and Garden. Thank you to the community members who joined.

The primary focus of the path is to link the Kununurra Schools with residential areas and address parents who have been reluctant to allow their children to cycle to school due to safety concerns.

The Kununurra Shared Loop Path was jointly funded by the Shire and the Department of Transport's WA Regional Bike Network Program. This investment in regional infrastructure has created dedicated cycling and walking routes linking strategic destinations identified by the community.

Great to see another stage of the loop path open in Kununurra, Chris. I can see that this is especially good news for helping kids walk and ride to school safely. You have earned 25 points for this launch and 10 points for all the details you have shared here. BTW, with these 2 stories you have just earned yourself Bronze Level accreditation! Have a great rest of the week 😊!
