Fiona Stanley’s Karen O’Connor Learning and Development Officer, has a great role in helping new staff starting at the hospital. Part of her role is to inform staff of the different options for travelling to and from work. The Make your Move resource is showcased at each employee induction and made available via the brochure rack in the FSH Education building.“I love to promote active transportation choices, with cycling in particular being a terrific way to start and finish your working day! I find it gets my mind sharp and ready for the day ahead, and on the journey home it is a great way to de-stress. We have fantastic ‘end-of-trip’ facilities at our hospital with secured bike parking, storage lockers and shower facilities, making this this healthy option an easy choice!” Thank you Karen for promoting this resource.

Kylie (Your Move)

Hi Nadine, providing staff with tailored information on how to get to work is a key Your Move action - well done. And I'm sure it is even more effective when delivered with Karen's smile and insider knowledge on how to access the End of Trip facilities. Do you provide public transport information as well?

Yes via the make your move resource, all the bus routes and maps are listed, making it easier for staff to choose public transport as an another option to travel to work. I used this guide myself when first starting at FSH 4 months ago.

Hi Nadine, I'm curious if you had any barriers to overcome getting this information included in inductions, and how you overcame them?
