Bike Boost for Term 4

Our Your Move Champion saw the Bike Boost Forum advertised on the Your Move website and promptly signed up to attend. I caught the train in straight after school drop off and it was an easy walk to the building from the Perth Train Station.

It was a fantastic event with a lot of inspiration from local business and councils on how they are encouraging active travel. It was particularly great to hear from Crawford Connell from the City of Belmont as a keynote speaker about what our Local Government has done and plans to do for Bike Month.

Another fantastic result from the Forum was joining up with Tim Burns , Smart Travel Officer from the City of Vincent (who attended our school when he was a younger man). He is using the local neighbourhood around our school as an example case of excellent low traffic design in a busy urban area. He is advocating to have similar initiatives put in place within the City of Vincent. It was fantastic to hear that other councils look to our little area with envy. We can certainly help Tim to promote the benefits that the City of Belmont's visionary town planning has had on reducing car use and improving active travel for our school and the wider Rivervale community.

During the forum we were told how to apply for a grant and brainstormed some ideas on what could be done with the funding. I'll take the ideas back to the school and we'll go from there.
