Breakfast Buffet powered by Belmont City Council

Lindi Harding
St Augustine's School

The City of Belmont has been very generous in supporting our community to travel actively by providing a healthy breakfast for our students on each of our event days.

Without our usual contact in Crawford (we still miss you!) we’ve had to forge new relationships and pathways for 2023. I contacted a few departments at the City and was lucky to have Carly Grapes, the Healthy Communities Officer, pick up the request. She was able to find the necessary budget to continue the support breakfast for our students on National Ride to School Day. She even hand delivered the goods on Thursday afternoon, ready for the big day!

The breakfast was thoroughly enjoyed by the students who had worked up an appetite getting to school using their own energy.

Providing a healthy breakfast on arrival gives our families who are new to active travel a little extra time in their morning routine to leave the car at home and get out and enjoy an active commute together.

Sadly, this will be the last breakfast that the City will be able to fund. Thankfully though, Carly has been able to provide me with contact details for alternate donors such as a local IGA, Coles or Woolworths, who I see help many other Your Move schools with their active travel events too.
