Planning for Term 3

On the first day back in Term 3, the Your Move champion met with Mr DiCarlantonio, St As School Principal, to discuss the upcoming Term events and to consider options for our Bike Month grant application.

We started by reflecting on the success and impact of Your Move initiatives for the first half of 2022.

We brainstormed ideas on how to acknowledge parents who have made Your Move Parent Pledges and Mr D agreed with me that using the publicity of an assembly to present your move pens and a thank you note to each parent via their children would assist with momentum of this initiative. We will continue presenting the Green Foot at all assemblies in Term 3 too.

This term we are planning to celebrate Parking Day for a second year. As with each of our events this year, I have selected relevant parking and pedestrian SDERA family resources to provide to families as part of the lead up to the event. The your move student team will meet with the Champion closer to the event to plan the activities for Parking Day.

We moved onto the Bike Month grant and our Term 4 event planning. I explained that we have the experience from previous grants and the confidence to aim higher with our application and make a bigger impact on our community this Bike Month. Mr D was very supportive of the ideas. As my idea is to host an event offsite and on a weekend, Mr D said he would do some research into insurance and risk before we would submit an application. Mr D suggested teaming up the your move team with the P & F to ensure a successful event.

It is fantastic to have Mr D so fully on board with the active travel initiatives in the school. The students and families of St Augustine's have a lot to look forward to for the remainder of 2022.

Thanks for sharing your plans with us Lindi - I can see some other schools being inspired by these ideas 😊. I particularly like your proposed way to recognise parents that have pledged a change in travel behaviour. You have earned 15 points for your Term 3 planning sessions with Mr DiCarlantonio and 20 points for sharing so many details.
