St As attends Leadership Lab

Today, the Your Move Student Team, Mrs Craig from Yr 5 and I travelled up the freeway to meet up with some of the great champion schools from the northern suburbs and attend Day One of the Your Move Student Leadership Lab!

In the morning our student team’s knowledge about active travel was boosted by fantastic guest speakers:

Road Safety and Awareness from SDERA

Mental Health and Wellbeing benefits of Active Travel from Act Belong Commit,

behaviour change from the Department of Transport

And the environmental benefits of Active Travel by RAC.

After lunch we did a school audit on the barriers and benefits our school currently had around active travel and then brainstormed some ideas about how we can have a greater impact on active travel the community as a team.

The students has a great time chatting to student teams from other schools. I heard a few mentions of the ‘leaderboard’ 😂 (St As students are a little disappointed that we haven’t been keeping up with the stories, so watch this space)

We are looking forward to learning how to put all of the knowledge that we have gathered into a neat presentation tomorrow.
