The power of volunteers

2021 has been a big year for your move at St Augustine Primary and it would not have been possible without our fantastic group of Yr 6 volunteers. As part of International Volunteer Day on 5 December, we celebrated the efforts that the Yr 6 your move team have made for the school. Each of the team were rewarded with a your move drink bottle and certificate thanking them for their contribution to promoting a happier and healthier school community.

2021 also saw our volunteer role of Your Move Co-ordinator change hands from Jacinta to Lindi. I had big shoes to fill and I am so grateful for the foundation that Jacinta has provided over the many years that she has volunteered in the role of Champion and Co-ordinator for the program. I feel really lucky to have taken over the reigns and have enjoyed volunteering in the role so far this year. I am passionate about sharing the benefits of being out in the fresh air and I believe that creating lifetime habits starts at school.

James (Your Move)

It certainly has been a brilliant year for St A's in Your Move. And we too are really happy about how smoothly the baton was passed from Jacinta to yourself. I'm really glad you took the time to celebrate with the Year 6 team - and you earned 25 points in the process (the "Volunteer Power" activity is more about getting help from the adult community - so that is perhaps a future story. For the student team, the equivilent activity is "Start a Student Team and Have Your First Meeting", which you ticked off in August. It is also worth 65 points and can be done each year when you start up your new team). You have also earned 10 points for sharing the details of your reflection here.
