Years 4 and 5 go to Safety School

The Year 4 & 5 classes were very lucky to be able to visit the Constable Care Safety School in Maylands on Monday 17 May, a day of sunshine and smiles all round.

During the session, the students were involved in a variety of activities. The highlight was when they got to get out and ride bikes on the purpose built track to practise dealing with road and transport hazards in a safe and realistic urban environment.

They also spent time discussing and learning about bike and road safety and they were even able to use iPads to role play and solve different augmented reality road and transport hazardous situations!

It was amazing to see the children increase their confidence and awareness around situations involving active travel.

We'd like to give a massive THANK YOU to the @CityofBelmont for covering the cost of the bus to and from the Safety School.

Welcome back to YM for Term 3 Lindi - and what a fun way to start the term! You have earned 50 points for your excursion and another 10 for giving us a great story. This is the first time that I have noticed that the Safety School even has the little diamond markers for bikes at the traffic lights 😃. A big high five to the City of Belmont!
