Danish founder of Cycling Without Age, Dorthe Pedersen, will be in Perth

The Cycling Without Age – WA chapter is pleased to host Dorthe Pedersen, during her tour of Australia.

Dorthe will inspire with her ideas about active citizenship and how Cycling Without Age provides elderly people with an opportunity to remain a part of society and the local community.

Cycling Without Age is an international not-for-profit organization operating in 37 countries. Its mission is to connect elderly people with the community and outdoors by taking them out on specially built trishaw ebikes, piloted by volunteer cyclists.

The without age principle is that life does not end at a given age, but can be embraced by what each generation has to offer through something as simple as cycling.

With 1500 trishaws worldwide and over 50,000 elderly people enjoying rides, the program encourages aging in a positive context, using cycling as a means to bridge generations.

Cycling Without Age is already established in Australia, with chapters in NSW, Tasmania, and Victoria. Three trishaws are now in Perth, operated by Affiliates in various delivery models for the benefit of seniors at RAAFA Bull Creek, Melville and Sorrento and soon Cottesloe. The WA chapter was recently incorporated with the aim to promote and support Affiliates in WA.

We are hosting several events during Dorthe’s visit to Perth, as well as meeting with key stakeholders and community members to bring the program to WA communities.
